Mise En Scene

Alot of different things had to be thought about when considering the placement of props and objects within the scenes. As the particular scene takes place in the house of the criminal it needed to look like a real house and so clutter had to be realistic for a normal house, for example flower vases, clutter and pictures around the room to make it look like the scene is really lived in.

On the shots that look outside a typical British street has been created with a car on the driveway opposite the house and there is also a van placed on the driveway next to the house indicating that there is activity in the house or next door. There is also a bush placed outside the opposite house to help make the area looked lived in. Once inside the house there is clutter about the house and the kitchen area including family pictures on the windowsill and there is a flowery pattern on the wallpaper to show that the house has been lived in and the person being questioned comes from more of a middle class background with alot of disposable income.

The costumes have also been closely considered. The police detective is wearing a lanyard with her id badge in all the scenes to indicate that she is a real police officer and it is her formal identification displaying her job title and department. She is also wearing black formal clothing and has her hair tied back to show more formality. She has minimal jewellery and no facial piercings that wouldn't be allowed whilst the officer is working. It all shows that there is a distinct line between the criminal being questioned and the police officer that is questioning.

P5

Overall I was very happy in the outcome of my proposed pitch about a relevant UK TV show. The overall appearance was very professional and all the mandatory and crucial aspects were covered.

The first thing that was mentioned was the impact of social media on a specific TV show of this nature. It is a common thing nowadays for all the actors that feature in the production to have their own social media pages and a very strong fan base or following. It is also common for the show to be boosted positively or negatively based on social media and the public perspective of the show. The more positive the show is on social media the more overall viewers and ratings the show will have. This was mentioned in addition to some other statistics about social media stating that the show needed some sort of social media background and account to get the following that is needed.

Another thing that was discussed is that the car chase scene takes place through a fake market scene. The first point would be whether it was actually possible to shoot the scene in the market and on he streets of the town itself. Also would the budget stretch to such scene as the car purchase will cost a lot and the scene itself will cost a lot to film and make happen. This would all have to be considered in the budget beforehand and all measures will have to have taken place to ensure that the production team can shoot in the location.

I am very pleased with the main title and the whole title sequence itself. The background is entirely black with the text appearing out of the shadows which ties in with the name and title itself. The only thing noted was that the text could have been a bit brighter and that the slides became mixed up in the pitch where the notes where read out before the notes slide came on. The overall logo looks very professional and I am very pleased with the font and colour choice as it all resembles the right theme and ties in with the rest of the show.

The production schedule was said to be very thorough and precise. The only changes would be that the all actors were being used every day which obviously will put a lot of stress on them and they will become exhausted very quickly. The solution to this was to shoot certain scenes on certain days that required less of the actors compared to all of them for every scene. This way the scenes can be cut at the end to make it seem like they flow within the production.

I was very pleased with the soundtrack choice and the music that was going to be composed specifically for the show. The decision was to release an exclusive soundtrack at the end of all the production and release to showoff some of the incredible work and music. It is very popular today to have a soundtrack of a show or movie with many people opting to buy soundtracks so that they can have the music from the show. This means that it was a very good decision in trying to extend the life cycle of the show and keep people interested even after the last episode has aired.

I was also very happy with the posters that are going to be released for the show. They all closely resemble the overall theme and nature of the show and all look professional and are simple yet very effective. In 2017 people do not want to read alot on a poster, they want to have a glance and get all the information that they can about that show. The only thing to change would be the text on the first in that it doesn't have the typical shadow that the main title does which would help to tie it in with the main show when people are having a glance at the poster.

‘Looks like someone has some explaining to do’

INT. Quiet, Dark room
Room is silent and the only light is form a small light that is illuminating the table, the area around is completely pitch black
There is a small table in the centre of the scene with DI Bennett, DI Whelburn and Vicky sitting round it.

DI WHELBURN

‘This is a very serious matter Vicky; we are investigating a murder here some cooperation wouldn’t go a miss’

(Vicky looks blankly at Whelburn)

DI WHELBURN

‘Well then, refer to reference 5a in your documents. It shows the Analysis from the murder weapon that clearly shows your finger prints all over the weapon, would you like to explain this…’

VICKY

‘I have no idea how they got there honest’

(DI Whelburn begins to raise his voice and becomes more and more agitated)

DI WHELBURN

‘It’s all stacking up against you Vicky, we are trying to get the best out of it for you… So now you are saying that this is your firearms but it was stolen from you to commit the murder… but how?’
(Vicky raises her voice and starts to get angry)

VICKY

‘I don’t know who took it, but im telling you now… I don’t know who stole the weapon and I didn’t kill Daniel!’

(There is afew seconds of silence before DI Whelburn turns over his notes)

DI WHELBURN

‘This is document 6 it refers to a map that shows the area where the murder was committed now CCTV footage shows that you were in the area at the time and you can’t get anybody to verify your alibi for the time of the crime. You also stated that you were not in the area at the time which to be honest here, is making you look like the guilty one…’

VICKY

‘But you have to believe me here… I am inn- ‘

DI WHELBURN

(Interrupts)

‘But how? You claim to be in two places at once and despite all the evidence you still claim that you are nowhere near the crime scene. CCTV doesn’t lie Vicky’

(He pauses for a moment before getting out some pictures from his folder)

DI WHELBURN

‘This is the footage right here, it shows you walking towards Daniels flat around 20 minutes before his murder and we know that it’s possible to enter his apartment, shoot him then leave unseen. But why… why Vicky was it out of revenge or did you simply just murder him in cold blood?’

VICKY

‘I… I…’

DI WHELBURN

(Aggressive with raised tones)

‘We are trying to help you here, we already know you have perverted the cause of justice, let me remind you that can carry a life sentence. Just come clean Vicky, you are digging your hole deeper!’
(There is a pause for a moment before Bennett looks at Whelburn)

DI BENNETT

‘I think we should call it a day her-...’

DI WHELBURN

DI BENNETT
